LINCHR ====== Function -------- **LINCHR** inputs a single character from the RS-232 port. Syntax ------ | LINCHR variable name | LINCHR ["PROMPT STRING";] VARIABLE NAME Examples -------- :: 10 LINCHR "DECIMAL VALUE",A 20 PRINT A 30 GOTO 10 displays: :: DECIMAL VALUE 65 DECIMAL VALUE 66 etc. Remarks ------- LINCHR does not wait for carriage return to be received and the character input is not echoed to the screen. A prompt message is displayed on the LCD screen as with :doc:`input`. Only one variable will be received. The variable is set to the decimal value of the character, as detailed in :doc:`../appendix/ascii-character-set`. A comma following the prompt message will suppress the prompt character '?'. Characters input from the serial port are not echoed onto the screen.
